A Stable Door has two moving parts that allow the top part of the door to be opened to let air and light into the house while keeping the lower part safely shut.
This door was originally used in old farmhouses. The Stable Door cleverly combined a door with a window. This allowed for plenty of light and ventilation into the small farmhouse cottages, keeping farm animals out and small children in.
Today this door remains very popular, especially for rural dwellings allowing the country air and sounds from the outside in while keeping the lower part of the door secure.
